The 43 foot Rybovich, Liberator, first came to Jarrett Bay Boatworks by way of Long Island, New York for an entire top-to-bottom refit and rebirth as the Maradel. This refit started with all new wiring and mechanicals including Cummins QSC540 8.3 liter diesel engines, 11.5 kw Onan Generator set and new fuel and water tanks.
Notable customizations included adding an anchor & rope locker, new fore-deck hatches, cutting in a bridge access hatch & creating an in-deck fish box in the cockpit. In regards to the hull, we added corner hawse pipes, took out all through-hulls, incorporated an engine room central collector drain box, Livos air vents & installed all new shafts & wheels.
The carpentry team set new teak decks, covering boards & built teak cockpit cabinets. The interior was completely rebuilt & Crystal Coast Interiors provided a soft goods package. A full bar and stools were added as well as a new sofa, veneer, whisper wall, counter tops, carpet & wallpaper. All interior varnish was stripped and the oak and ash redone with an elegant satin finish. The exterior teak varnish was stripped to the lumber and expertly refinished. The cockpit was fitted with a fighting chair & rocket launcher from Release Marine.
The upper console and helm station was also completely rebuilt and relocated. Our affiliates at IMS American Marine Electronics took the lead on installing a first-class electronics suite on the vessel and Bausch American Towers rigged the beautiful new tower & integrated hard top.
Ultimately, everything but the planking was rebuilt on this boat, and we even replaced some of that!

So glad to see this fine vessel in such great shape. Was hoping to work on it myself while employed with you guys. Jarret Bay does very impressive work, to say the least. Awesome job to everyone involved.
Thank you for sharing this page about the Maradel–she looks awesome! No doubt Steve is thrilled
I’ve been in contact with Steve as he bought the Rybovich book (Hull #61 Commemorative Edition) so I’ve seen a handful of photos of the boat, in-progress, but the boat now is breathtaking!
I hope she’ll be joining us at the RyboRendezvous in Ocean Reef–she’ll be the belle of the ball!
Thanks Pat!
Absolutely love this Rybovich! Best looking classic sportfish in my opinion. Been following her for years and glad to see her back in tip top shape.
Would love to see some interior pics and such. Nice job Jarrett Bay!!!
Thank you Jason! the Maradel is still in our yard, partially due to the active hurricane season. We should be putting the finishing touches on for the owner within the next few weeks and plan to get some more photos posted then…
I to am glad to see this boat back to life, I ran it as the Waywego for 7 years in Palm Beach, it is one of the best Rybovich’s ever built, great fish boat, good luck, Capt Jim Zeak
