On a chilly
December day in 1986, Jarrett Bay Boatworks (JBBW) humbly
began the building of a single boat -- a boat of necessity --
one to
replace the aging boat used as a local charter boat.
In an old tin shed, the Sensation took shape like many before
her -- ones built on tradition by legendary names such as Tillet, O'Neal, Rose, Guthrie and Davis.
Since those
modest beginnings, JBBW has expanded its facilities twice, due
to increased demand for our product. In December 2006, 126 employees will celebrate our landmark 20th Anniversary at the 175 acre Jarrett Bay Marine Industrial Park, directly
situated on the Intracoastal Waterway in Beaufort, North
Carolina.
In an effort to
accommodate the avid fisherman on both the water, and the
homefront, Jarrett Bay opened a retail store on Front Street,
Beaufort, NC. THE BOATHOUSE stocks a wide variety of
unique nautical gifts and accessories. THE BOATHOUSE
also stocks a wide inventory of Jarrett Bay gear and apparel.
The store also offers prints of original art, exclusively
contracted for THE BOATHOUSE. Also featured is a wide
variety of custom furniture, umbrellas, and unique home
accessories.
THE BOATHOUSE
is a full extension of the boatyard to traveling boaters.
The store acts to promote the boating history of Carteret
County, and profiles a number of projects completed by Jarrett
Bay. THE BOATHOUSE also serves as an official reporting
station for the BIG ROCK Blue Marlin Tournament. Make
sure to come and visit the Boathouse on your next visit to the
Crystal Coast. |
