Randy Ramsey’s History of Hull 3
We had a contract for Hull 4, so we decided to build two identical hulls – one for the customer and one on spec. We got Hull 3 to the stage of being glassed on the outside, and as struggling boat builders in a leaky tin shed at the time, we took a man up on his offer to finish Hull 3 himself. So in the spring of 1989, she was shipped to New Jersey. Several months later, we learned of the intention to use Hull 3 to splash a plug to start Jersey Devil Boatworks. We again at the time, unfortunately did not have the means to enact a cease and desist; So apparently at some point, the Hull 3 molds were sold to Jersey Cape, who I believe still produces Hull 3 likenesses. I feel certain that the actual Hull 3 (plug) was lost in the mold process and thrown away, but I could be wrong. If Hull 3 was to ever resurface, one would easily know that they found her because she was a frame boat and not cold molded.
