It’s not often that I sit down to write a letter any longer, especially one of praise and thanks. lf I’m displeased, I b–ch like everyone else and vow never to engage that service or product again. Our current society of entitlements has definitely subtracted something from us as it relates to civility.
As you know, we splashed Blueskies Friday moming after a week long stay at Jarrett Bay. Part of the reason for the haul out was so that I could do her bottom and wax her hull. The older I get, the more difficult that job becomes. I’m not sure how you do it, but the Travelift causes a 39 foot boat to increase to 60 feet on the hard. But that’s not why l’m writing. The intent of my letter is to say THANK YOU for a well run facility.

Just wanted to thank you for the great work you & your crew did for us.
The first impression I had when we arrived on Sunday was how neat and organized the yard was. That’s a lesson I learned very early in my career – show that you know how to take of your facility and the customers will see that you will take equally good care of their boats.
I wanted someone to know how I’m being treated after being a customer for 7 yrs, it seems as if no one even knows who I am! I don’t spend a huge amount of money with your company, basically because I don’t have a lot. But each yr I spend between $3-5k. Yet, everyone, & I do mean everyone, from the lift operators to the laborers & of course the office personnel inc. Jeff, Todd, Keith and Kendra always call me “sir” or “captain.” They, after all these years, would think they know who they’re dealing with… A poor, broke, charter operator trying just to break even each year. This month the Jarrett Bay Service Yard welcomed another one of its own into our full-service facility for some early spring work.
The 61′ Sea Striker, hull # 23 owned by Adrian Holler, is scheduled for prop and shaft inspection and removal. Before heading back to the water, she’ll receive a Farrow Blast, fresh coat of barrier and bottom paint, fiberglass repairs to any hull knicks, and a fresh coat of Alexseal paint to top her off.

Beginning in the fall of 2011, Susan McCart and John Gudelsky’s Absolut Joy, a 59′ Ritchie Howell previously known as Press Time, made its way to the Jarrett Bay service yard for an extensive winter makeover. While here, our service team executed a great deal of basic mechanical upgrades, along with some necessary structural repairs and reconstruction, while trying to maintain her original builder’s intentions.
Mechanically, we were able to remedy some standard maintenance issues in her engine room and beyond, including upgrading wiring to ABYC standards, sound barrier installation and upgraded fire suppression. Our neighbors at Gregory Poole Marine Power also performed thorough engine inspections and we performed upgrades and re-positioning of a number of systems including exhaust, fuel system, batteries and chargers, and all water systems (raw, fresh and gray). We also performed a fuel polishing service, troubleshot some leaks in the oil and genset fuel systems, and rebuilt both upper and lower helm stations.
Structurally, we made hull modifications and fiberglass repairs for improved hull performance and repainted the entire exterior – the hull with John’s signature color blue.
