Over the years as your hull becomes weathered, gathers barnacles, or is simply in need of repair, it can create drag that will drastically effect the performance of your vessel. In the past you might have had to completely sand down your hull and have it completely repainted. Now at Jarrett Bay we have a new system which can remove these surface defects and leave your topcoat and other custom artwork in tact.
Earlier this week, the Jarrett Bay service yard was the site of an in-depth training session showcasing a great new hull blasting system, known as The Farrow System.
Farrow System Explained:

In this final leg of a 12 part series, Randy Ramsey reflects on the most influential people to contribute to Jarrett Bay’s success over the last 25 years:
For the past 11 months it has been a pleasure to share some of the stories about our first 25 years and the many people who have helped to mold the company and contributed to our success. For the 12th and final installment of the series I think it would be appropriate to write about what started all the excitement 25 years ago: hull number 1 “Sensation”.

Since it’s debut in Fort Lauderdale, there’s been a lot of buzz about Release Marines “Battle Saddle”. This hydrid fighting chair / leaning post was actually developed directly with NASCAR driver Jeff Burton and his Jarrett Bay 46′

The 54′ Jarrett Bay, Chainlink recently took home first place in the 2011 Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament with 7 white marlin released in two days. The Cape Fear tournament is run out of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina and this year’s fleet consisted of 18 of the top billfishing teams in the region.
This 3-day event features two fishing days and one lay day, but it always seems to provide plenty of action – and this year Day 2 was when the fireworks took place. After each boat made one release on Day 1, both the Chainlink & Trophy exploded with action Friday morning. Chainlink was the first on the board for the day with a dual white marlin release at 8:51 with Trophy following suit with a white release an hour later. The 55′ Jarrett Bay Builders Choice was in our yard last month for a complete mezzanine retrofit and other upgrades prior to tournament season. Mezzanine cockpit refits are becoming a popular project on sportfish boats that were built with a conventional standing-room-only cockpit layout.
The basic process is to remove or cut-down old cabinetry and ice boxes for the addition of a mezzanine level and seating. This upgrade often provides just as much (or more) space for coolers or freezers below the sofas and steps, and in this case, even allowed for a larger engine room entrance – all without requiring any changes to the salon door placement. During this refit, the service department performed a number of improvements including:

Proud new owner and NASCAR #31 driver Jeff Burton hosted a thank you party at Jarrett Bay’s Marine Park in Beaufort after his 46’ sportfish returned from her debut at the Miami Show in early March. During a collective effort to deliver a two-year custom sportfish project in less than a year, nearly 200 people touched this project, many working some of the longest days of their lives from start to finish. However as the 46’ sat as the backdrop for the thank you party and Jeff personally thanked every guest in attendance, it was a dream realized for many more than just Jeff.
Jeff told the crowd of more than one hundred Jarrett Bay Marine Park associates, “You can look at the boat and see that you guys care about what you do. Jarrett Bay was the obvious choice, and the boat turned out just awesome.”

In this 12 part series, Randy Ramsey reflects each month on the most influential people to contribute to Jarrett Bay’s success over the last 25 years.
Seldom does a person come into your life that makes such a significant impact as Jack Huddle did to mine and the Jarrett Bay family. I have often told people that Jack has become a second father to me. He has given advice, instilled confidence and has provided opportunities for us that only a father would. I first met Mr. Huddle on Harkers Island where he fished his 29’ Phoenix “Jack’s Boat” from the same marina I ran charters out of. As I got to know him, it was easy to see he had a real love of the outdoors and was passionate about offshore fishing and hunting at the “camp” in the community of Stacy.

In this 12 part series, Randy Ramsey reflects each month on the most influential people to contribute to Jarrett Bay’s success over the last 25 years.
I was fortunate enough to meet Capt. Omie when I fished with him in 1982 on “Sportsman”. We traveled to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center that fall, and while we were anxious to take part in the white marlin fishing, Capt. Omie wanted a “few fish for the dock”. Little did I know that his definition of a few fish was having a box full! When we started in, the wind breezed up and I was amazed by the way the boat handled in the sea and how well she did compared to the boats I had run. Soon after that trip, we set our goals to build a similar boat that we would use in our charter business.
