Hull #53 – 44’ Express
This bare hull is currently available for purchase. The previous owner traded up to hull #55 to build the 64’ Sportfisherman. Experience the performance of a total sportfishing machine with this 44’ dream. All of the essentials without all of the headaches: economical operation, durable finish, smooth & quiet ride and classic Carolina style & performance.
Hull #54 – 67’ Waste Knot
Tower work on this magnificent beast is essentially complete. Curtains are being constructed, and the bridge seat cushions are built and ready to install. The final rigging is taking place now. The salon parts are all out of the varnish shop and ready for installation. As soon as they are installed, the granite that has already been cut will be mounted. Once the granite is in, we will splash the boat and put fuel & water on to mark the waterline. After putting her back on the hill, we’ll paint the bottom and boot stripe. Next up will be trimming out the headliner and carpet. After that, it will be performance testing and she’ll be ready to deliver mid-December. The owners have put generations of fishing know-how into her design and functionality. Without a doubt, you can expect to see her blazing the tournament trail on the East Coast and beyond next year. Captain Walt Kuhn invited me along yesterday for a trip to the deep, on his boat the Kirsten, a Jarrett Bay express (awesome fishing machine!!). My friend Capt B. runs the cockpit and we were joined by Capt Walt’s brother Dan. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, we ran to 500 fathoms in the Poorman’s at 30 kts. We set the spread and a little while into the troll we ran into a school of Yellowfin, these guys were hungry, 3 knockdowns resulted in two keepers (about 20-30lbs). Then around 10am, Capt B. spots the white checking out our spread. The white went for the teaser, and Capt Walt pulled it away, that just pissed em off! So he went for the big squid and I pulled that away, now he was really ticked! So Capt B dropped a dink right on his nose and he ate it, and game on! Then Dan got to fight his first White (between 50-60lbs), some nice jumps and some pictures, then we released him to fight again another day. All in all, a great trip, Dan caught his first offshore fish a Yellowfin and a White. Thanks Captains Walt and B, it was great time and I learned a lot, and congrats Dan.
I’ll post the pics as soon as I get them!

Dear Randy,
Fished yesterday in a healthy SW 5-6 sea with some 8′s mixed in. Came home at 25 knots from the North (Wilmington/Spencer Canyons) with the bow down quarter sea port side running into it at an angle. Had a 70ft enclosed bridge boat next to me (Bertram or Ocean, not sure) and about 10 other 50? class boats (Vikings and Oceans) behind me on the trip home. No one passed me! Had one guy sleeping in the cabin all the way home and we slowed up about 10 miles from the beach to allow everyone to use the head.
While moving along at about 6 knots, we took a wave into the cockpit from the side (gives you an idea of sea conditions.) Anyway, the boat next to me got on the tournament channel and asked if I was ok considering sea conditions as he saw me slow down. He then asked who built the boat as he was very impressed with the boat running quarter head on into those seas. Anyway, thought I would pass that on to you all that Jarrett Bay got a nice plug on the radio, not to mention others watching a 40? boat running like a champ into those seas. 1 for 6 on white marlin (got to work on our hookup ratio), one tuna, one dolphin. Heading south on Friday, hear there is a big eye bite down there. Will let you know.
Thanks for your help! Love this boat, save the plans!!!
