Another Truly Unique Sportfish Launched by Jarrett Bay Boatworks

56-foot Open Convertible built for fun fishing in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Central America

Hull 67 is the third new custom Jarrett Bay delivered in a 12-month interval and is another one-of-a-kind, truly custom yacht. From afar, Renegade looks like a 56-foot convertible sportfish with a traditional flybridge. But upon closer inspection, you’ll find an additional lower helm station and convertible bulkhead that makes her a unique hybrid with the ability to transform into a “hardtop express” at times. This design allows the owners to choose their mode of operation based on conditions and activities—either enjoy the 360-degree view from the climate-controlled luxury of an enclosed helm station salon or open it up like an express for the ease of movement and proximity to fishing action in the cockpit.

The owners of Renegade have their sights set on fishing throughout South Florida, spending summers in the Bahamas, and the winter and spring months in Costa Rica. With such a wide variety of fishing planned for a relatively more compact boat, it has been tricked out like a billfishing Swiss Army knife.

JB 56 - Hull 67
Only a couple quick paces from the lower helm, the mezzanine seating hides a 35-gallon stainless steel bait freezer and is joined by a tackle cabinet to starboard with a built-in Kenyon grill, and hidden gaff and mop storage. The centerpiece of the cockpit is a Release Marine fighting chair, which can be quickly interchanged with a Release Marine rocket launcher, specified by the owner to be dependent on the type of fishing they are engaged in. Hidden beneath teak hatches are dual 40-gallon stainless compartments – one refrigerated and one a freezer with bait trays. There is also a 50-gallon ice dump to starboard and a generous 120-gallon in-deck fish box with an automatic ice machine. The highlight of the transom is a large 100-gallon baitwell with a glass front joined by hidden tuna tubes beneath the transom covering boards.

The impressive lower helm station features a large peninsula console extending from the port side with three 22-inch Garmin displays and a full electronics package from Atlantic Marine Electronics (AME). Forward of the peninsula is a spacious dinette with integrated storage for rods up to 8 feet in length. The dinette boasts a custom hi-low pedestal from Marine Tables that converts the dinette to a daybed or additional overnight sleeping accommodations.

To starboard, on the lower bridge level is a lounge seat with plenty of dry storage underneath and a wet bar with an under-counter Sub-Zero unit, built-in bottle storage and a hidden Samsung 50-inch Smart TV that electronically rises from the cabinet to face everything aft. Sight lines from the lower helm are exceptional thanks to a vast one-piece glass windshield accompanied by full-length, seamless port and starboard windows. The lower bridge area is finished in Alexseal Cloud White, contrasted beautifully by the faux teak window trim accents and wet bar cabinet, along with the signature Jarrett Bay teak helm pod. The real teak decking carries from the cockpit and mezzanine area through the lower bridge to further accentuate the express boat experience.

A ladder adjacent to the mezzanine seating gives quick access to the command bridge above. Ascending to the flybridge invokes a sportfish convertible feel as you look upwards at the custom Palm Beach Towers 6-foot gap tuna tower and 44-foot Rupp outriggers. Keeping everything familiar for the captain, the flybridge features a peninsula console nearly identical to the unit found on the lower bridge. Three 22-inch Garmin displays are joined by the signature teak helm pod and full AME electronics package, while the captain and mate sit comfortably in Release Marine helm chairs. Overhead, molded into the hardtop is a recessed electronics pod and hi-speed teaser reels.

The flybridge welcomes guests and crew to L-shaped seating forward of the peninsula console across from lounge seating to starboard – all with generous dry storage space underneath. The deck is coated in a durable, low-maintenance custom marine decking that includes laser engraved inlays and a faux teak look. Looking forward from the flybridge, you can spot the Alexseal Cloud White topsides, faux teak toe rail, flush mount bow hatch and built-in pulpit with polished stainless cap and windlass components.

Jarrett Bay 56 galley
The arrangement in the lower level is a two-stateroom, single-head layout wrapped in a high-gloss walnut finish with exotic Terra Wave accent pieces. Jarrett Bay’s handmade walnut and maple flooring extend throughout this space which includes a highly functional galley with a full-size Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, a Wolf induction cooktop, Bosch microwave and an abundance of storage. Accommodating a very tall owner, the headliner height is also raised to impart a spacious feel while the quartz countertops help keep the below deck area bright. Additional built-in rod storage and tackle center with ample storage are also located on the lower level.

Renegade’s owner & crew are already enjoying the connected experience between the open salon and cockpit while landing their first blue marlin on Hull 67’s first-day fishing in the Bahamas immediately after taking delivery in late June. They are equally excited about the performance and stability of this 56-foot platform thanks to Jarrett Bay’s legendary ride being complemented by a pair of high-tech MTU 10V-2000 M96 engines rated at 1,600mhp each, and a larger Seakeeper 18 gyro stabilizer. These systems are joined by a Northern Lights 25kW generator, FCI watermaker with spot-free rinse and many other components arranged for easy maintenance in the spacious engine room.

The breathtaking finishes and custom features of Jarrett Bay’s latest masterpiece are joined by a truly unique open convertible concept designed in-house and brought to life by Jarrett Bay’s experienced craftsmen (there are no women on the construction crew) and shipwrights. Although it is exciting to see a multi-year custom sportfish build go from a jig on the shop floor to an eye-catching stunner at the dock, it is equally exciting to watch the owner and crew already showcasing Jarrett Bay’s “Born to Fish” motto in fine style as they make their way through the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific. You’ll want to keep an eye out for Renegade!
