The month of December brings cool weather to Eastern NC along with the excitement that surrounds the Holiday Season. For us here at Jarrett Bay, it is also a time to reflect on the year that has passed and think about goals for the year to come. A time to spend time with our family, friends, members of our Jarrett Bay family and give thanks for all we have been blessed with not only in the past year but in our lives.
As we embark on our 27th year at Jarrett Bay, we have a lot to be thankful for.
Each year our team has been quick to do whatever it takes to exceed our customer’s expectations while constantly growing and adapting to an ever-changing landscape. While we are not perfect, I am proud that our team does their best each day. The past year has seen resurgence in our new boat construction and in our repair yard. We have remodeled our stores, changed our leadership structure, and expanded our services to include diesel and gas repair as well as farrow blasting. The paint shop at Jarrett Bay has a larger backlog than we have ever experienced and we are delivering the highest quality work ever. We have done numerous repowers and working on complete rebuilds on other boats. We are closing in on delivering our largest boat to date – the 77’ Blank Check, and having The Doyle’s and Capt. Danny join our family has been a true pleasure. We have built new relationships with customers like Greg and Geraldine Barber who are building their first Jarrett Bay, and have strengthened old ones by building Curtis Strange his third custom Jarrett Bay.
While this has been a lot to take on, we recognized the need to strengthen our sales organization to serve our customers needs even better. In order to do that we knew we needed a partner with a strong presence in service and dedicated to customer satisfaction. We found that with the team at Bluewater Yacht Sales and this fall we merged our sales organization with them to form the new Bluewater Yacht Sales. This move has allowed us to become the third largest sales organization in the USA with more than 40 professional sales people and more than 10 support people in 9 locations from Ocean City, MD to Palm Beach, FL. We now have almost 400 exclusive brokerage listings and represent 10 world-class new boat brands including Viking, Hatteras, Grand Banks and Back Cove to name a few. This merger has also allowed us to have sister service facilities in VA and two in NC, with more than 150 full-time service members to ensure we can take care of our customers no matter where boating takes them.
Even though this year has been full of change and exciting news about expanded services and mergers, I am humbled by the things our employees and friends do outside of work. This year our employees have supported each other as we have lost family members and fought sickness, supported a young man who is fighting cancer by participating in fundraising events, building another boat for mission navigation, participated in our Wednesday morning devotional time together and started construction of the Joy Gaskill / Jarrett Bay Habitat for Humanity house just to name a few. Our Jarrett Bay family lives out their belief that we can build a better place by giving back and working together.
This week we start on our 27th year, and we have a lot to be excited about. I feel confident that 2013 will continue to bring about positive change for our company as we work to ensure we are thinking forward and evolving. We will make certain that we continue to be a leader in our industry and in our community. This will take hard work but I am confident our team is up for the challenge.
As I close, I want to wish you and your families a blessed Christmas from our family here at Jarrett Bay. It is easy for me to get caught up in all the activities that surround the Holidays, but this year I am going to make an extra special effort to take time to say hello, give back to those who are less fortunate, and to remember the real reason we celebrate.
